Yaaaa, it's almost here! Carnival 2023 is about to erupt! On 18, 19, 20 and 21 February. For four days, Helmond will turn into Keiestad, Keiebijtersstad or Kattegat (just depends on which side you are on ; )). But even before then, there is plenty to do. As always, we will celebrate together again, on the streets and in the pubs. ‘Gôdewirmee!’ is the self-explanatory motto this year. Do you already know where you are going? Our overview will help you with this. With our tips, you will be prepared!

Installation and reception of Prince Briek L

It is no surprise who Prince Briek L will be, but he still has to be officially installed! The installation will traditionally take place on the square in front of the Helmond Castle. Following is the reception in Hoftempel West-Ende where you can congratulate Prince Briek L!

Keiebijters Chat Tournament

After a two-year absence, the Keiebijters Kletstoernooi is back! Twelve barrel proaters will compete in three preliminary rounds for a spot in the Grand Finale du Keieklets. Besides the Kletsers, six entertainment groups will also perform and provide musical variety. Buy your tickets (for €22) fast! The Grand Finale du Keieklets on 4 February is already sold out.

Announcement youth prince Prince Briekske

The youth of the Keiebijters - the Kiezelkeikes - also have their own prince. Prince Briekske der Keiebijters will be announced during a cosy afternoon in Hoftempel West-Ende, where brand-new Prince Briek will also be present. Prince Briekske is the predecessor of the children's carnival.

Pebblekeikesfist

The Kiezelkeikesfist is a carnival-like children's afternoon with music and performances for and by the youth. The children sing, dance or stand in the barrel like a real Keiekletser. Of course, Prince Briekske and Prince Briek L and his entourage cannot be missing either. Conviviality all round! A ticket costs €5 (including snack bag for the kids). Order quickly!

Galamatinee du Keiebijters

At Gala Matinee, you will enjoy a festive afternoon and evening in carnivalesque spheres. As ever, the barrel is filled with chatter and high-level entertainment. Meanwhile, you will enjoy a delicious gala dinner. You really won't lack anything! During the afterparty - while enjoying a drink - the feet will be off the floor to live music played by a band. A ticket costs €147.62 each.

Hilmond Zingt

You can sing along again during the fifth edition of Hilmond Zingt! The Helmond Music Corps will turn the Traverse upside down with well-known (Helmond) sing-alongs. After a dazzling surprise act, the ‘Lazy Pianos’ take over the musical baton. Pianists Marcel and Bram and drummer Stefan guarantee a fantastic ending to the evening. A ticketcosts €15.

Vurgloeie

On Friday 17 February, you can ‘vurgloeie’ at the biggest Friday afternoon drink before carnival on the Mizunallen square in the centre of Helmond. Top artists will get you in the carnival mood. Think of: The Alpine sisters, Roy Donders and Partyfriex. Dansado and Feestmeester will provide the musical accompaniment. Party guaranteed!

Keijologische Skôttel

On Friday before carnival, the solemn session of the Keijologische Hogeskool is scheduled. First, however, you get to enjoy a delicious dinner at the Hoftempel! It is the perfect warm-up for a unique evening. A ticket cost €22,-.

Keijologische Hogeskool

The Keijologische Hogeskool studies the life of homo carnavalensis and the Helmonder in all its facets. Each session consists of three parts. First, the Perbeerder performs: a newcomer who presents his Proof of Erremoei takes off. Then the Nobel Prize is awarded to a special Helmonder. Afterwards, Het Promoventje (Last year's Perbeerder) defends his Pruufskrift and is promoted to Doctor of Keijologie.

Handing over city key

On Carnival Saturday, Mizunallen Square will be festively opened at 1pm. At 1.30pm is the official handover of the city key. The key transfer is a question-and-answer game. Afterwards, the city key and replicas will be handed over to the princes of the Helmond carnival. After singing the ‘Key Song’ and tapping the ‘Key Beer’, it's party time!

Opening party city carnival

After the key handover, the opening party begins. On three stages, all carnival associations present themselves. From the hands of the new Prince Biek, they will receive a replica of the city key. At 4.11 p.m., the Kei comes out of the ground for West-Ende. This tradition is accompanied by the striking of an authentic cask of beer by the chief brewer. Now carnival really erupts!

Kei Orange Ball

After a successful first edition of the Kei-Oranjebal last year, there will again be a cosy carnival ball for young and old, with (live) music and entertainment, on Carnival Saturday in De Traverse. You won't want to miss it! Tickets can be bought on the website Of Kei Orange Ball.

Biggest Parade of the South

On Carnival Sunday, the Biggest Parade of the South through Helmond. This parade is known for its colourful and funny creations and, of course, for the region's most beautiful carnival floats. This year, you can finally see the new Prince's float. Because of Corona, it has had to stand in the shed for 2 years, but this year it is really going to happen!

This route is taken: President Rooseveltlaan/Wesselmanlaan intersection - Steenweg - Kanaaldijk N.W. - Havenbrug - Havenweg - Watermolenwal - Ameidewal - Noord Koninginnewal

After the parade, dhe award ceremony at 18:00 at the Mizunallen square in front of Hoftempel West-Ende.

Price Blaze

Carnival Monday is all about music. Various bands will fill every corner of Helmond city centre. This is guaranteed to be dancing, singing and jumping! The ‘flower parade’ ends on the Mizunallen square in front of the Hoftempel. The orchestras take turns to go all-out for the audience one more time. At 18:00, the jury will award the prizes and announce the winning brass bands. .

Kiezelkeikes afternoon

For all children of the members of the Club of 1000, the Youth Committee is organising a great party on Carnival Monday at the Hoftempel West-Ende. Led by Prince Briekske, the children have their own party in the ‘Da Vinci’ hall. Every year, the children are surprised with a dazzling performance: a clown, a magician, an acrobat or a great singer. Want to become a member of the Kiezelkeikes? Sign in!

Butskes Kreugen round

On Carnival Tuesday, you can mop around the city. For €16, you can buy a ticket which you can exchange for a stamp card on Tuesday 1 March at 2pm on the Mizunallen square. With this you will enter seven pubs, here you will get a free consumption and a different task each time. After completing the task, you will receive a stamp. Around 6pm, the closing party will be on the Mizunallen square. Upon returning your full stamp card, you will receive a Butske as a souvenir pin.

Another Kei'er

Carnival Tuesday you can ring in the final hours at 8.30pm at Mizunallen Square! The boulder is not in the ground yet, enough reason for a party! Carnival 2019 saw René Karst there, rocking the square with his hits ‘Liever te dik in de kist’ and ‘Atje voor de sfeer’. This year is even bigger, one more full throttle carnival!
