Sunday 19 November the steamer will arrive - at least if there are not too many traffic jams on the water - in the safe Helmond harbour off the Burgemeester Geukerspark. The Intocht is always an experience for young and old alike. Rows thick the children always stand, just to catch a glimpse of St Nicholas and his staff. And to catch some peppercorns, of course.

Again this year, the route will pass through the forecourt of The Castle of Sinterklaas, where the catering facilities will be open and activities will take place. From the castle's forecourt, the route continues in the direction of the Oude Aa, towards the Veestraat. From the Veestraat, the route continues in the direction of , via the Oude Aa to the Markt.

From 2pm, Sinterklaas will be at the Market and children will have the opportunity to meet him in person. Sinterklaas has thought of every child and brought a surprise from Spain for everyone. There will be all kinds of fun performances by artists and local associations on the stage in the Market Square all afternoon, from dancing, singing to music, so be sure to stop by!

After the warm welcome - although in mid-November we usually speak of a fresh welcome - Saint Nicholas and the helpers check in at The Castle of Saint Nicholas around 16:00. Another cup of hot chocolate without rum by the fireplace and then off to bed on time. Just like all the lovely children, who undoubtedly had a fantastic afternoon.
