The first two editions in 2020 and 2022 of World Press Photo Helmond left a rock-solid impression. De Cacaofabriek therefore announces a third edition. From 21 January to 19 February 2023, the world photo exhibition will once again be on show in De Cacaofabriek's exhibition space.

Intriguing and unusual press photos

The World Press Photo Contest selects the best journalistic and documentary photography of the past year. The most intriguing and extraordinary press photos of the year are on display in the World Press Photo Exhibition 2022 Helmond. 24 winners were chosen by an independent jury. From these 24 regional winners, four global winners have been chosen. From all corners of the world, you will be introduced to courageous stories, valuable insights and different perspectives on various themes. From the climate crisis to civil rights and from education to identity and everything in between. You will most certainly walk out with a little more awareness after seeing this exhibition.

World Press Photo Helmond as inspirational booster

World Press Photo Helmond has so far shown itself to be an inspiring booster of conscious citizenship and civic engagement, especially in the public field,’ said Julienne Tullemans (programmer expo The Cacaofactory). Previous editions, for instance, actively involved children and young people, had a special programme for the elderly and featured meaningful conversations at the invitation of Driessen Group between professionals from the public field.

Engaged community does not go unnoticed

The approach in Helmond did not go unnoticed by World Press Photo Foundation either. ‘I really felt everyone's enthusiasm and excitement about this event and it was great to see how involved the community was. I look forward to seeing the exhibition again in Helmond in 2023. With another set of remarkable stories that will hopefully inspire people to stop, think, feel and do!’ said Marika Cukrowski (Exhibitions Manager and Curator World Press Photo Foundation).
